Spring Schwalm Lace Cloth

COL076

A TOUCH OF HOME  This pretty table cloth with Schwalm Lace motifs decorated with floral scrolls is complemented with a matching lace edging, designed for machine embroidery and created on a home embroidery machine.

Schwalm is a German hand made embroidery, found as early as the 17th century. The traditional style of embroidery is easily recognised by the profuse use of hearts and tulips with scalloped edges. Also there are cut and pulled lace-like fillings inside some of the design shapes. Woven Borders feature at times in traditional designs. This embroidery style could be found on clothing and table clothes and runners. Traditionally white thread on white fabric was used. Today colours are also used.

This design set consists of 5 motif designs which make up the whole Schwalm Motif as seen in the photo on the left and 1 Lace Edging and 1 Lace Corner designs as seen in the photo on the right.  Each of these design pieces fit in the 4" x 4" hoop.  You will also receive the pdf files for Schwalm Lace Tutorial, a Placement Tutorial, Lace Edging and Corners Tutorial and Placement Templates.  Use the design motifs to make matching placemats and napkins.  A table runner can be made instead of a square cloth.  This set allows you to make a cloth the size of your table.  Arrange the design motifs as you like to customize your Schwalm Lace Cloth.
